I interviewed former Home Secretary Michael Howard in September 2009 in his capacity as MP for Folkestone and Hythe about the anniversary of the Channel Tunnel fire.
I discussed with Mr Howard the problems which affect this side of the Channel when an incident like the fire occurs or, for example, a strike by lorry drivers in France, causing Operation Stack to be activated on Kent’s roads.
